Are You An Internet Addict?
Whether you think you can help it or not, the truth is, you can. Talking with friends and family online, is what a lot of people have to resort to if they can’t walk down to their house and actually talk to them. However, there are some people that would rather stay in their house and talk to friends and family online, rather than make the simple effort to get dressed, and go walk to, or bike/drive to another individual’s home, to talk with, and spend time with them. No, there is no issue with this if you are in the first situation, and talk with people for more than two hours a day. But, if you are in the second situation, you may want to consider to choose other communication options to get your daily social fix, without the media.
Regardless of what you currently think, family time is important, and technology is taking away family time from many countries around the world. Many families would much rather be spending time on their devices, rather than spending time with their family doing things such as eating dinner, or even talking with one another. It isn’t uncommon for the person to become very agitated when interrupted while using the internet. A common thing for kids and teenagers to do if they are addicted to gaming or the internet, is to shut themselves in their rooms and not talk to anybody but other people using the internet. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing if it happens to occur once or twice a week, when no other tasks need to be completed, then it should be looked into.
To prevent or slow down internet addiction, you can do things like monitor you daily usage, like having a set time to use and not use the internet. Suggest other ideas, like not thinking about the internet as a whole will help, so doing something that doesn’t involve it, like playing a sport, will slowly ease you off of it. Besides just reading this article, and self diagnosing yourself, I highly suggest that you do more research on the subject. You may also be able to find new methods and ways to calm your usage of the internet regularly.
