INTERNET ADDICTION BLOG
Nowadays, 94% of the teenagers around the world are addicted to the internet. This addiction is
especially abundant in social media, such as Instagram, Snapchat etc. The addiction that teenagers
have on internet, have caused many effects on their lives. No matter how many times I say not to do
this, people still do. Some of these effects are the overuse of the internet, becoming antisocial and
lost of their sleep.
Firstly, teenagers spend most of their time on their phone chatting on social media. This has affected
many factors such as school. The students are starting to have lower grades because of the use of
internet. They start doing their homework and most of the times they can’t wait to finish them so they
can use their phone again. That has as a result their homework being incomplete (Lenhart)
Secondly, teenagers have started communicating in an unreal world and most of them have forgotten
how to have a conversation face to face. For them it is easier to chat with each other than having a
conversation face to face. Also many relationships between the teenagers have started on social
media, and they solve their problems by chatting which is a big mistake (Joyce).
Another effect of using internet so often is the fact that many teenagers are not sleeping as much as
they should (Mazzola). Sometimes they lose their sleep either because they are chatting with their friends or maybe because they are playing games on their computers. That has as a result of making their performance in school bad because if they are not sleeping, then during school they can’t pay attention during lesson.
In conclusion, the fact that teenagers are spending almost all their time surfing on internet, has many
disadvantages and consequences that affect many factors in their lives. In my opinion, teenagers should stop using internet so often but to start seeing the world from a different point of view.
A solution of stopping internet addiction is using rules that kids and teenagers must follow as a result
not to get addicted, for example having a limited time for using their phone or their computer.
